First weekend in Finland cont.

The side of a church or funeral home in the cemetery.
The stone wall of the cemetery viewed from the waterside path.
Over view of the water from the cemetery wall.

More graves with lanterns viewed from the main road of the cemetery.

Its Sunday and we decided to visit a large old looking cemetery that we saw on our walk yesterday. The cemetery is very large and was not as old as we thought. The graves are very close together making it seem like many of their dead are cremated or buried "standing up". Another thing that I noticed while we were in the cemetery is that they plant plants at the grave sites and light candles in little lanterns. Some of the graves do not have lanterns but they do have candle holders. They also seem to have the head stones cleaned often and the plants replanted. We also walked down to the water near the cemetery and looked at the bridge and some of the houses on the other side of the water. One thing that I have noticed since I have been here is that a lot of people have dogs and they walk them every where. We were in the register office a few days ago and an older couple came in with a Yorkie! No one even reacted to the dog like it happens all of the time. We saw several dogs on the walking trail today.
